Robert (Bob) G. Schichtel, 75, of Kingsley, Michigan, died peacefully at his home surrounded by family on Saturday, November 25, 2023. He was born August 10, 1948 in Traverse City, Michigan to Donald and Jacqueline (Barrett) Schichtel. Bob retired as a State Farm agent in Cleveland, Tennessee after 32 years of dedication. He served in the US Air Force from 1967 to 1971 and is a proud Vietnam Veteran. He was a 1966 graduate of St. Mary's of Hannah High School. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, flying his ultra-light airplane, making hay in the summer, and raising American bison on their ranch in Cleveland, Tennessee.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, the love of his life and best friend Theresa (Boehnlein) Schichtel; sons Rob Schichtel of Cortez, Colorado, Barratt (Valerie) Schichtel of Cleveland, Tennessee, Todd Norris of Chattanooga, Tennessee and daughter Angie (fiancé John Shumay) Boonstra of Caledonia, Michigan; grandchildren Aubry (fiancé Kyle Farmer) Boonstra, Tanner Boonstra, Zane, Levi, Robin Schichtel and Lola Schichtel; sister Pat (Merv) Cole and sisters-in-law Brenda Schichtel and Shirley Schichtel; also beloved family members Justin, Jeny, Carolyn and Nolan Wolf. He also leaves behind nieces, nephews, and immeasurable friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Tom, Joe, Dan and his sister Donna Schichtel.
Family will greet friends Thursday, November 30th from 5 – 8 pm at St. Mary of Hannah Church in Kingsley, Michigan. A Mass of Christian Burial with Father Joe Muszkiewicz will take place at 11 am with visitation one hour prior on December 1st at St. Mary of Hannah Church. Bob will be laid to rest with Military honors at St. Mary of Hannah Cemetery. Those who wish may make a memorial contribution to St. Mary of Hannah School or mass intentions. Condolences may be posted online at www.kalkaskafuneralhome.com. Arrangements have been entrusted to Kalkaska Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
