Robert Dale Schilke, cherished member of the community, passed away peacefully at home on May 14, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on August 26, 1936, in Killdeer, North Dakota, he was the son of Reinhold and Irene (Evanson) Schilke.
Robert was a remarkable individual, lovingly remembered for his deep commitment to family and his numerous interests and passions. He was a valued member of Faith Lutheran Church in Prescott, Michigan, where his faith and community involvement enriched the lives of those around him. An avid outdoorsman, Robert enjoyed fishing and hunting, which reflected his love for nature and adventure. His hobbies went beyond outdoor activities; he found joy in cooking, reading, and listening to audiobooks. Robert was often found engaging in friendly competition, whether playing cards, Yahtzee, or Dominos. He also had a keen eye for photography, capturing life's moments with his camera.
Professionally, Robert was associated with the plumbers local 98, contributing his skills and expertise. His work ethic and dedication were evident in everything he did, earning him the respect and admiration of his colleagues.
In addition to his many interests, Robert was a devoted family man, leaving behind a legacy that includes children Debra (Bob), Doris, Theresa, Rachel, Beth, Irene, and Carl. He is also survived by his brother Arnold, as well as over 50 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. His life touched many, and he will be fondly remembered by his extended family of nieces and nephews.
Robert was predeceased by his beloved wife, Berta Ann, and his siblings, brothers Ervin and Gerald, and sister Leah. Their memories will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
A visitation will take place on May 19, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at Faith Lutheran Church, located at 5315 Henderson Lake Road, Prescott, Michigan. The burial will occur the following day, May 20, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Cadillac Memorial Gardens - East, 38425 Garfield Road, Clinton Township, Michigan.
Robert Dale Schilke will be deeply missed, yet his spirit will remain alive in the countless memories shared by his family, friends, and community.
