Robert E. Schmidt, 87, passed away on December 3, 2024. Born in the Bronx to the late Ernest and Elsie Schmidt, he was a proud New York City firefighter (Ladder 47).
Bob met his wife Carol of 64 years when his family moved into the house next door to hers in Edgewater Park, the Bronx. His mother Elsie and Carol’s mother Betty had been dear friends earlier in their lives, so the reunion was joyful. Years later Bob and Carol would date, go to each others high school proms, and marry in 1960.
He is predeceased by his brother, Ernie and grandson, Kevin.
Bob is survived by his wife, Carol, children, Robert (Lisa) and Janet, grandson's, Brian (Amanda) and Steven, and great grandson, Parker.
