Robert "Bob" Schmitzer, a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on October 31, 2025, in Arizona, at the age of 93. Born on December 8, 1931, in Flint, Michigan, Bob lived a long and meaningful life marked by dedication, integrity, and an unshakable love for those closest to him.
Bob proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps from February 1951 to February 1954, during which he took part in the Korean War. His dedication and bravery during this time were a testament to his strong character and unwavering commitment to those he loved.
After his service, Bob transitioned to a successful civilian career as the owner of Schmitzer's Sunoco Service, where he built lasting relationships within his community. His work ethic and sense of responsibility not only ensured the success of his business but also allowed him to provide a loving and supportive environment for his family. Whether in uniform, at work, or at home, Bob lived by the same values - service, loyalty, and love.
Bob was preceded in death by his beloved wife Donna, of 52 years, with whom he shared a lifetime of laughter, devotion, and partnership. She was the "love of his life"! Together, they built a strong and loving family that continues to carry on their legacy of faith, kindness, and togetherness.
Bob's greatest passion in life was his family. He cherished every visit, every phone call, and every story shared around the table. His laughter, wisdom, and gentle spirit will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those who were privileged to know him. He leaves behind his two daughters, Susan Huss and Janinne Carpenter (husband Allen), his beloved grandchildren, Lori Johnson (husband Brian), Lisa DiPasquale (husband Angelo), Melissa Huss, and Kyle Carpenter (wife Ashley), along with eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild on the way, and his sister, Patricia Harrison (husband David).
Bob's steadfast and caring nature made him a cornerstone in the lives of his loved ones, and the legacy he leaves is one of love and resilience. In loving memory of Bob, a private memorial service will be held in his honor.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages those wishing to honor Bob's memory to make a donation to mencoachingmen.org, a Christian organization that reflects his commitment to his faith.
Though he may be gone, his legacy lives on in the four generations he nurtured, inspired, and adored. Bob's kind heart and the memories he created will forever live on in the stories and laughter shared by his loved ones.
