Robert E. Schrader, of Charlotte, NC died at Levine & Dickson Hospice House Southminster on February 18, 2025 at the age of 93.
Born in Chicago to Jay and Fan Schrader, he arrived in Charlotte at the age of five. His family was among the earliest members of Temple Beth El, and Robert was the first Bar Mitzvah there.
Robert grew up in Charlotte, graduated from the Georgia Military Academy, then attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill before beginning his career as the owner and operator of the Visualite Theater. On March 6, 1960, he married Sally Morris to whom he remained faithful for 65 years. He and Sally hosted a festive Super Bowl Party in their home which was attended by hundreds of guests over 52 consecutive years. He loved to travel throughout the world with his family and very good friend, Doug following his retirement in the mid-nineties. Robert was a member of the Charlotte Optimist Club for many years.
In addition to Sally, he is survived by his sons, Jay and Ben and his daughter, Kim Bank (Edward) as well as grandchildren, Joseph and Jordan Schrader, Lou and Joshua Bank, and great- grandson, Judah.
A gathering to celebrate Robert's life was held in November 2022. Following cremation, no other service is planned. May he rest in peace with his many friends who have passed before him.
Shalom

So many great memories of Robert in my family's restaurant, Leo's, & me in his family's theatre, The Visulite, in the 1950's & 1960's. All good times.
What a rich guy he was being married to Sally! Sorry I didn't visit with Robert in his latter years so we could have some more laughs together, but I only thought how lucky we were back in the "19's" to just be a few steps away from our happiness places; Saturday morning "The Phantom, Goldfinger," and so many art movies. Hot Pastrami sandwiches, Dr. Brown's Creme Soda,& lots of Gordon potato chips with mustard. Of course we had at least one conversation about a combo *Movie House Deli! * 'Mom n Pop' businesses & dreams with family & friends are the best!

Sally,
My thoughts are with you today. I have so many memories of the good times we shared, and one especially when Robert introduced me to a smoke which resulted in your having to bring me home. Robert will be missed. Dottie

I have known Robert and the Schrader family for over 50 years now. I have had so many good times from Super Bowl parties to fine dinners and travels with Robert and Sally. I feel like they were almost like parents to me. My sincere deepest condolences to the family.
