Robert E. Schroepfer, Nekoosa, died June 21, 2024, at Aspirus Riverview Hospital. He was 97.
Robert (Buzz) was born on February 26, 1927, to James and Barbara (Weber) Schroepfer in Stratford, Wisconsin. He married Eileen Zurfluh at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Nekoosa on October 17, 1951, and was a loving husband for 63 years.
Buzz served in the Navy during WWII. He worked for Nekoosa-Edwards Paper Company for 45 years before retiring in 1989. He was an avid golfer well into his 90's. He and Eileen spent the winter months in Florida and Arizona, making it possible to enjoy his hobby year- round. He enjoyed watching his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren participate in school and extracurricular activities over the years. He liked watching the Badgers, Packers and Brewers. After retirement he did volunteer work and enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles. Throughout his life he was fortunate to have had close relationships with many of his nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. Later in life he was so lucky to have his daughter and neighbors looking out for him as he remained in his home until his recent passing.
Buzz is survived by his children and their spouses, Larry (Helen) Schroepfer, Bobbie (Jim) Schmidt, Scott (Jackie Churchill) Schroepfer and Jim (Becky) Schroepfer. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Andrea Schroepfer, Kate (Mike) Garcia, Jeremy (Lindsay) Schroepfer, Rhiannon (Lauren) Schroepfer, Neal (Jackie) Schmidt, Erin (Shaun) Finley, Xavier and Dominick Schroepfer. He is also survived by his great grandchildren, Gabriella and Julianna Garcia, Wesley, Dylan and Ainsley Schroepfer, Cami and James Schmidt, and Nolan and Emma Finley. He is also survived by his sibling, Doris Haenel.
He is preceded in death by his sisters, Lucille, Beatrice, Dotsy, and Susan; and brother, Jim.
