Robert William Schultz

Robert William "Bob" Schultz passed away at his home peacefully on September 6, 2025, after a year-long battle with liver cancer. He was 87 years old.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Evelyn Elaine (Baird) Schultz; two daughters, Kristen Dawn Schultz Trest and Sheryl Anne Schultz Baird; son-in-law Glenn Trest; grandson Joshua Andrew Gunter; step grandson Brendon Trest; sisters, Nancy Schultz Johnson, Marlene Schultz Dixon; brothers, Dennis Schultz and wife Brenda, Donald Schultz, Timothy Schultz and wife Jeannie; niece Molli McDonald (who has been like a third daughter to Bob); and many more nieces and nephews.
Bob was born in Elyria, Ohio on January 3, 1938, the second child of Clarence Henry Schultz and Helen Barbara (Zeiba) Schultz. He attended The Ohio State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Welding Engineering degree. While attending OSU, he met Evelyn, and they were married on June 11,1960, in Columbus, Ohio. Bob began his career with Armco Steel and moved the family to Middletown, Ohio in 1963. Bob was Senior Research Engineer for Armco. He is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Ohio. He was also an Advisor with Junior Achievement.
In 1971, Armco Steel transferred Bob to Houston, Texas as Quality Control Supervisor. The family stayed in Houston until 1982. At that time, Bob was transferred to Leesburg, Florida; both daughters remained in college in Denton, Texas. Bob retired from work in 2010, but both Bob & Evelyn stayed active with many hobbies and pursuits including traveling and were very active in their church. In 2019, they moved to Allen, Texas, near Dallas, Texas to be closer to their two daughters and their families.
Bob was an active and dedicated member of the LCMS Lutheran church, and held several offices and positions (elder, treasurer, president and more) in the churches he attended including Messiah Lutheran Church in Middletown, Ohio, Christ Lutheran Church in Houston, Texas, and Bethany Lutheran Church in Leesburg, Florida, Trinity Lutheran Church in Summerfield, Florida, and Messiah Lutheran Church in Plano, Texas. He was also involved in Children's Programs and Youth Group activities as his daughters grew up in the church. He had a strong faith and love for God and family.
Bob was an accomplished woodworker, skilled in building many things for his family and friends over the years. He was fondest of making intricate dollhouses for his daughters which they still treasure. Bob & Evelyn are life-long supporters of OSU, even attending the Rose Bowl festivities in 2010, and Bob remains a "Buckeye" forever.
"Papa Bear" will be missed greatly by his wife, daughters, family, and friends.
