Robert Seidel Obituary
Robert retired from the Borg & Beck Division of Borg Warner Corp. after 31 years as a tool & die maker where he was a skilled trades representative and member of United Auto Workers Local 314. He was instrumental in organizing and running an annual Walleye Tournament with employees of the shop. Robert also was active in the Borg & Beck annual picnics.
After retirement, Robert worked part time for A-OK Engineering Company and Savair Corporation.
An avid hunter and fisherman, Robert was a member of the St. Clair Walleye Association and spent many days hunting and fishing in northern Michigan, South Dakota and Tennessee. Woodworking was another of Robert's favorite hobbies and had many beautiful pieces in our home.
Robert also served his country in the Army from 1959-1962 where he was an MP and cook.
Robert leaves his loving wife of 56 years, Barbara (Herrin) and son, Michael. Also survived by siblings Joanne (the late Chester) Borkowski, Don (Beverly), Steve, Jim (Pam), Sue (Jerry) Vancil and Sandy (David) Saginaw. Brother-in-law of Arlene Seidel, Bernadine Smith and Ronald (Jacqueline) Herrin. Also leaves many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Anna Seidel, mother and father in-law, Bernard and Ann Herrin and brother-in-law John Smith.
Robert will be sadly missed by his many friends for his humor and uncanny ability to make people laugh.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 2-8pm with a 7pm Rosary at Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons, Inc. 36900 Schoenherr at Metro Parkway (16 Mile). Instate will be Wednesday from 9:00am until the time of the 9:30am Mass at St. Michael's Catholic Church, 40501 Hayes Rd, Sterling Heights, MI 48313. Entombment at Resurrection Cemetery.
