Robert Setser Obituary

FRANKLIN - Robert Gary Setser, 71, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2025.
Gary was born in Dearborn, Michigan, to the late William Andrew Setser and Joyce Wallace Setser, who were both born in Franklin. He was a longtime member of the Louisa Chapel Methodist Church and member of the Junaluskee Lodge #145.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his older brother, Wallace Setser.
In the 1960s he moved to Franklin where he was a licensed electrical contractor for more than 40 years. Gary's work can be seen throughout the community in both residential and commercial properties.
He never missed an opportunity to help someone in need. That willingness to help others led to Gary spending 27 years as a captain with the Franklin Fire Department.
Gary found joy in being outside, whether it be on his tractor or on Fontana Lake in his boathouse. He will be remembered for his quick wit, his infectious smile and his ability to never be without something to say.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Pamela Setser; children, Justin (Kara) Setser and Felicia (Blake) Proffitt; granddaughter, Andi Setser; sisters, Pam Hanak and Kathy (David) Morgan; sister-in-law, Donna Setser; and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life service will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Franklin Fire Department, 49 Maple Street, Franklin, NC 28734.
Online condolences can be made at maconfuneralhome.com.
