Robert Shirley Obituary
Robert J. Shirley, age 73, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.
He is survived by his beloved children, Diane (Patrick) Huebner, Shirley (Greg) Howard, Karen (Doug) Weiss, Charity Shirley, and James Shirley; grandchildren, Logan, Tim, Nicole, Mary, Elise, Dalton, Jurney, Mackenzie, Dakota, Landon, and Matthew; his eleven great grandchildren; his brothers, Glen (Donna) Shirley, and William (Rensi) Shirley; and his nephew Joseph Shirley.
Robert is preceded in death by his cherished wife Mary (nee Newman) Shirley; and his parents, Edward and Jane Shirley.
Robert was known for his amazing sense of humor. He had a passion for fishing and loved to be on the water. In his spare time he loved to listen to audiobooks, especially westerns. He also loved to travel, with his favorite place being Wisconsin.
Services for Robert will be held on Friday, December 13, 2024 with a visitation at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 65 Old Frankfort Way, from 9am-12pm, followed by a Mass at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 7659 W Sauk Trail, in Frankfort at 12:30pm. Robert will be laid to rest with his wife at Good Shepherd Catholic Cemetery in Orland Park. In lieu of flowers donations to St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Robert's name would be appreciated.
