Robert Lee Showalter, 81, of Hershey, Pennsylvania, passed away on December 2, 2025, at Capitol Rehabilitation in Harrisburg.

Born on January 22, 1944, in Ephrata, Pennsylvania, Robert was the son of the late James Showalter and Alletha M. Showalter. He attended McCaskey High School in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and later continued his education at Millersville State College.

Robert found joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved gardening and cooking, pursuits that reflected his patience, creativity, and care for others. He was also a devoted animal lover and cherished the companionship of his cats and dogs, who brought him comfort and happiness throughout his life.

Robert will be remembered for his quiet passions, his love of home, and the warmth he shared with those around him.

Robert leaves behind his brothers, Allen Showalter (Denver, PA), and William Showalter (Lancaster, PA); sisters Joyce Erb (Beaufort, NC), and Dorothy Hassler (Provo, UT); and many nephews and nieces.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Donald Richard and Cary Wade.

No current plans at this time for a funeral.

The family would like to express gratitude to Robert's neighbor, Kim Stoner, who has spent many hours sitting with him and helping to care for him.
