Robert Coy Shropshire, affectionately known as Bob, was born on April 18, 1934, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Floyd and Lois (Ford) Shropshire. He left this world peacefully on February 24, 2026, in Lubbock, Texas, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, adventure, and community spirit.

Bob's early years and education laid the foundation for a life spent fostering connections and laughter. He was known for his vibrant personality, having never met a stranger, and his love of conversation was a hallmark of his character. A devoted family man and friend, Bob married Evalyn Jean Harrison on December 31, 1954, in Lubbock, Texas. Together, they created a nurturing home that welcomed family and friends alike.

Throughout his life, Bob was a passionate community member, engaging with his surroundings in various ways. His role as a Khiva Shriner Clown brought smiles to many, exemplifying his commitment to making others happy. Bob enjoyed fishing and riding motorcycles, relishing the opportunities to explore the beauty of the United States after his retirement from the Santa Fe Railroad, where he served as an engineer. Bob was an expert in the art of holding a conversation, he truly never met a stranger.

Bob's collaborative spirit extended into his community, where he was frequently seen at school sports events, serving as a timer at the New Deal Track meets and generously supporting numerous local activities with his presence and enthusiasm. He was known to be a travel companion to his beloved Juanita and Ancil, accompanying them on adventures including rodeos, motocross events, and various sports outings.

He is survived by his devoted wife of over 71 years, his children, Juanita Heathington and her husband Marion of Lubbock, Texas, and Ancil Shropshire and his wife Jelaine of New Deal, Texas. He also took immense pride in his family as a grandfather to nine grandchildren: Chad and his wife Kendall of Argyle, Texas; Melissa and her husband Tilden of Granbury, Texas; Dana, Jason, Shawndi, Chance, Tessa, Austin, and Christian. Bob cherished his role as a great-grandfather to seventeen great-grandchildren, who were the joy of his later years: Colby, Maddy, Caroline, Jude, Alaina, Brennan, Tell, Marlow, Tres, Khonor, Khope, Kholyns, Layken, Cru, Miller, Mikaela, and Leah. Bob also leaves behind siblings Eugene Shropshire, Charles Shropshire, and Lilian (Sissy) Ballenger, all of New Deal, Texas.

He is preceded in death by his brother, John Shropshire.

A funeral service to honor Bob's life will be held at First Baptist Church in New Deal, Texas, on March 2, 2026, at 11:00 AM.
