Robert J. Shumake Sr. - Obituary
Dallas, Texas - Robert J. Shumake Sr., a beloved member of the community, passed away peacefully at his home on December 21, 2023. Born on May 7, 1946, in Dallas, Texas, Robert led a life full of purpose and resilience.
Robert was a man of unwavering principles and integrity. He was known for his stern demeanor and his ability to "said what he meant and meant what he said". His straightforwardness earned him respect amongst his peers and made him a trusted figure within the community. Robert's presence in the streets of "Sunny South Dallas" was notable, and his impact on the lives of those around him will never be forgotten.
Throughout his life, Robert cherished the value of family. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, two sisters, and one brother. He leaves behind a lasting legacy through his surviving family members: two children, three granddaughters, nine great-grandchildren (two girls and seven boys), as well as one great-great-granddaughter.
In honor of Robert's life well-lived, two services have been arranged to celebrate his memory. The first event will be a visitation held on December 28, 2023, starting at 1:00 PM - 9:00 PM at GOLDEN GATE FUNERAL HOME and A CREMATORY located at 4155 S R. L. Thornton Fwy in Dallas, Texas. This will be an opportunity for friends and loved ones to pay their respects and share their fondest memories of Robert.
The second service will be a Celebration of Life held on December 29th at the same location at 3:00. This event aims to commemorate the profound impact that Robert had on all those who were fortunate enough to have crossed paths with him.
Robert James Shumake Sr. will be dearly missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts and minds of all who knew and loved him. Please join us in honoring his memory at the services outlined above.
