Robert D Sill, born July 5, 1936, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 8, 2024, at North Kansas City Hospice House with his loving children by his side. He was 87 years old.
Robert (Bob) was born in Boone, IA to the late Cleo N. and Andrea M. (Chastel) Sill. He grew up in Boone, Long Island, NY and settled in St. Joseph, MO where he married Lola E. (Hoffmann) Sill and raised his family. He was preceded in death by his five siblings, Gerald, Betty Rein, Doris Bower, Cleo and Kenneth whom he has been reunited with in heaven, he was a Christian.
Bob enlisted in the United States Army in 1955 to serve his country during the Korean War era and was honorably discharged. He was very humble about being a veteran.
He worked at BNSF railroad as a switchman for 36 years. When he retired, he moved to Henderson, NV where he lived until 2020, when his health required him to move back to Kansas City, Missouri to be closer to family.
He will be lovingly missed by his children; Felecia M. Diggs, James D. Sill, Timothy W. (Amy) Sill, and Craig C. Sill, his grandchildren; Brandalyn Morris, Britney Sill, Paige Sill, Colin Kinnick, Zachary Sill, Benjamin Sill, and his great-grandchildren; Gunnery Drake and Dorian Sill. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and their families as well as friends in Henderson, NV as well as at Tiffany Springs Senior Living Community.
The family would like to thank North Kansas City Hospital ICU, Cardiac Unit and Hospice House for their kindness and care. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to either St Jude's or Shriners Children's Hospital.
Mr. Sill was cremated. Graveside service and inurnment with military rites: Friday, July 5, 2024, 11:00 am, Maple Grove Cemetery, Oregon, Missouri with a Celebration of Life to follow at Chamberlain Funeral Home, Oregon.
