Robert J. Simler 89, formerly of Wallingford died March 2nd at Arden Care Center of Hamden after a long illness. He was the loving husband of the late Anne "Bunny" Baker Simler. Robert was born in New Haven July 2, 1936, the son of the late Albert Sr. & Agnes Mahon Simler. He worked for many years as a truck mechanic for Connecticut Light & Power. An avid gun enthusiast, he enjoyed target shooting and was a member of the Ansonia Rod & Gun Club. He is survived by daughters Mrs. Dennis (Deborah Ann) Romano of Ansonia and Carolyn Palmieri of West Haven, a brother Arthur Simler of Meriden, a granddaughter Melissa Bonan, and 6 great grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a son Robert Simler Jr. At the request of the family services and interment will be privately held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
