Robert "Bob" Francis Simoneau, age 77, entered into rest on January 5, 2022 at the Cloud County Health Center, Concordia, Kansas. Robert was born October 10, 1944 in Palco, Kansas to Philip and Jeanette (Benoit) Simoneau.
Bob was known to many people, grew up in Damar, Kansas and attended the schools there graduating in 1962.
He met the love of his life Verla Elaine Tyrrell during the summer of 1964. They married November 7, 1964 in New Almelo, Kansas. They had four children, Jeannie, Paul, Denise, & Cory. They lived in various places from Salina, Kansas to Hill City, Kansas to Tulsa, Oklahoma and Palm Desert, California, and many places in between.
Bob stayed in the construction business his entire life until he retired October 2021. He loved to work, and worked until the day before his surgery. He was always doing something and could not sit still. He was a hard worker starting his first job at the age of 13. He taught his family to help others in need. When people had flat tires or were stuck in the snow, he would always stop and offer his help. Bob would give his last dollar to someone in need and the shirt off his back. He had a heart of gold, was a gentle soul and loved his family.
He was a parishioner at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Hill City.
Robert is survived by his wife,Verla Simoneau, Hill City, KS; his four children, Jeannie Waters (James), Concordia, KS, Paul Simoneau (Michelle), Goodland, KS, Denise Koch (Edward), Flower Mound TX, Cory Simoneau (Stephanie), Hill City, KS; 21 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Larry Simoneau (Della), Salina, KS, Linus Simoneau, Salina, KS; two sisters, Annette Smith, Hill City, KS, Carolyn Merritt (Butch), Wakefield, KS; two sisters-in-law, Ilene Simoneau, Hays, KS, Donna Simoneau, Hays, KS; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Philip and Jeanette, two brothers, Anslem and Leroy.
The Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, January 21, 2022 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Damar, Kansas.
Robert's wishes were to be cremated and a memorial mass service will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Damar, Kansas, with Father Henry Saw Lone and Matthew Siegman officiating. The Inurnment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Damar, Kansas
