Robert Sistare Obituary
He was born July 7, 1944, in Monroe, N.C., the son of the late Lawson Eugene Sistare and the late Nada Sistare Funderburk and was the loving husband of Diane Duncan Sistare.
Robert was a man of deep Christian faith who found joy in sharing God's word and love with everyone he encountered; he never met a stranger. He was a skilled woodworker, a talented musician who loved bluegrass and writing and playing his own music. Above all, Robert adored his family. He cherished the moments he took his son and grandsons fishing and thoughtfully ensured everyone felt loved and remembered by keeping track of all their birthdays.
He is survived by his wife, Diane Sistare; his son, Stephen Sistare (Christine); his daughter, Lisa Sistare Cauthen; three grandchildren, Grant Cauthen, Rhianna Sistare Micalizzi (Matthew), and Jonathan Sistare; a brother, Lynn Brecht (Vickie); his two sisters, Barbara Jean Sistare Phifer, and Melissa Helms Knight (Phil); numerous loved nieces and nephews; cherished extended family; and a special friend, Michael Cauthen (Father of Grant Cauthen).
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Lawson Eugene Sistare and Nada Funderburk; a brother, George Wayne Sistare; and a brother-in-law, Jerry Phifer (Barbara).
The Celebration of Life Service for Robert will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, 2025, at Pleasant Dale Baptist Church, officiated by Dr. Jessie Adams and Rev. Brad Threatt. Burial will follow privately.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Thursday, Nov. 13, 2025, at 10 a.m. in the fellowship hall at Pleasant Dale Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to Pleasant Dale Baptist Church, Attn: Building Funds, 133 S. Potter Road, Lancaster, SC 29720 or by planting a tree in Robert's memory.
