Robert Smith was born February 14, 1943, in Washington County, KY to the late William Joseph Smith and Nellie Rebecca Rudd Smith. He departed this life Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at Green River Trails in Greensburg, having attained the age of 82 years.
He spent much of his life farming and building cabinets, work he took great pride in. He and his wife loved digging into family genealogy together and sharing the stories they uncovered. He was a devoted University of Kentucky fan and never missed a chance to cheer them on. More than anything, though, he loved being with his grandchildren, who were truly his greatest joy.
Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother: Richard Smith, three sisters: Patricia O’Bryan, Lillian Kidwell and Clarine Carrico, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Jimmy Carrico, Leo Carrico, Casey Jones, and Louise Smith
He is survived by his wife: Beverly Colvin Smith, one daughter: Ashley Bell (Gary) and two step-daughters: Jennifer Johnson (John) of Campbellsville and Joy Cox (Todd) of Elizabethtown, five sisters: Rebecca Carrico, Regina Carrico, Faye Smith (Roy) , all of Springfield, Sarah Frances Jones of Louisville, three brothers: Joe Murray Smith (Imelda) of Warner Robbins, Georgia, Albertus Smith (Linda) of Cox’s Creek and Bernard Smith (Rosemary) of Louisville, , six grandchildren: Gage and Braxton Tucker and Addison Bell of Campbellsville, Alli Wells (Travis), Malorie and Makenna Cox of Elizabethtown, , many nieces and nephews, plus a host of other relatives and friends.
A graveside service and burial for Robert Smith will be 1 p.m. Eastern Time Saturday, September 6, 2025, at St. Rose Church Cemetery in Springfield, KY with Father Pepper officiating.
Visitation will be 9 am Eastern Time until 12 noon Eastern Time Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Foster-Toler-Curry Funeral Home in Greensburg.
