Arthur Samuel “Buck” Smith, 89, passed away on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at his home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Giles Banner and Lillie May Smith; brothers, Jack Smith, Charlie Smith, Bill Smith, Banner Smith and Bruce Smith; sisters, Clara Barton, Lucy Barton and Helen Barton.
He loved to farm and worked at Tri State Livestock Market. He also enjoyed spending time with his animals especially his cat, Tiger. He was a custodian and member of Mill Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Gaynell Smith and sister, Nada Blevins. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral service will be conducted at 7 pm Tuesday, January 20, 2026, in the Combs-Hess Funeral and Cremation Service chapel with Pastor Justin Blankenship officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 pm until the time of the service. Burial will be conducted at 2 pm Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at Ketron Memorial Gardens. Those wishing to attend should meet at the funeral home by 1:30 pm to go in procession to the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Randy Smith, Allen Colyar, Rick Ledford, Quinton Fields, Michael Barton, Dennis Kiser and Brandon Underwood.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Leonard, Charlie Cantrell, Jim Fields, Roy Kramer, David Barton and Travis Gilbert.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
