Bobby B. Chafin, age 83, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, in Johnson City Medical Center. Bobby was born July 1, 1942 to the late William Augustus Chafin and the late Anna Mae Campbell Chafin. He was a 1964 graduate of Steed College, chairman of the deacons and served as a deacon for over fifty years at Cedar Grove Baptist Church where he was the oldest member. Bobby worked at 1st National Exchange Bank, owned and operated Chafin Mobile Homes for nineteen years and Chafin Insurance. Bobby loved farming and eating at Hardees.
Besides his parents Bobby is preceded in death by his wife of fifty-four years, Vera Elizabeth Chafin; siblings, Avon Chafin, Lois Chafin, Billie Ann Chafin King, A.B. Chafin, and Shirley Chafin Barnette.
Bobby is survived by his daughters, Vera Lynn Chafin Musick and husband, Chris and Angela Chafin Gray and husband, Jim; grandchildren, Haley Brooke Watson and husband, Matt, Landon Christopher Musick and wife, Makayela, Kara Ann Gray, Kaitlyn Elizabeth Gray, Nathan Blaine Musick, and Kaden William Gray; great-grandchildren, Mila Watson, Cooper Musick; special sister-in-law, Mary Helen Chafin; several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service for Bobby B. Chafin will be conducted at 7 pm Monday, February 2, 2026, in the chapel of Combs-Hess Funeral & Cremation Service with Rev. Chris Musick, Rev. Jeff Kinder, and Rev. Caleb Sample officiating. The family will receive friends from 5- 7 pm Monday prior to the funeral. The interment service will be conducted 11 am Tuesday, February 3, 2026, in the Russell Memorial Cemetery. Everyone wishing to attend is asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:40 am on Tuesday. Pallbearers will be Bill King, Tom King, Larry Rasnake, Joel Sample, Greg Ball, and David Ring. Honorary pallbearers will be Steed College classmates and the Hardees breakfast bunch.
