Robert Smith Obituary

Born on January 19, 1931, in Parma, Ohio, he was a son of the late Frank and Nina (Risley) Smith.
On July 14, 1952, Robert married his beloved wife, Ruth Sara Wells. At the time of her passing in 2019, they had been married for 67 years.
Robert graduated high school from the former Gustavus High School. After graduating, he proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War before being honorably discharged in 1953.
For 38 years, Robert worked as a production supervisor at Packard Electric/Delphi. After retirement, he ventured into the family business, cooking at the Waynewood Restaurant, which he owned and operated alongside his wife, Ruth, for 27 years.
Throughout his life, Robert had a variety of hobbies and interests that showcased his talents and passions. He was an avid collector and restorer of Chevrolet Corvairs, owning four of these classic cars. His love for craftsmanship was evident in his skills as an excellent carpenter as he constructed much of the family's restaurant in 1964.
Robert is survived by his two sons, Mark W. Smith of EL Paso, Texas and Curtis L. Smith of Wayne; two grandsons, Ryan Smith of Wichita, Kansas and Ian Smith of El Paso, Texas.
In addition to his parents, Robert is preceded in death by his wife, Ruth S. Smith and four sisters.
Calling hours will be held from 4:00PM to 7:00PM, on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at Baumgardner Funeral and Cremation Service, 134 Prospect Street, Andover OH 44003. Military Honors will be presented at 6:30PM. Cremation will follow.
