Mr. Robert Smith Jr.

Robert Smith Jr, .84, of New Orleans, LA, peacefully departed this life on February 28, 2026, at his residence in New Orleans, LA.

10:00am-11:00am visitation Saturday March 14, 2026, at Peoples Undertaking Co. Interment following in the Magnolia Community Cemetery.

Robert Smith Jr. was born on December 13, 1941, to the late Robert Smith Sr. and Earnestine Marie Zackery, who instilled in him the values of hard work, perseverance, and faith.

Robert received his education at South Pike Training School, where he developed a love for athletics and teamwork. His talent on the football field earned him a football scholarship to Utica Junior College, where he continued his education and athletic pursuits.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Charles Ray Smith, Ethel Mae Allen, Patsy Lynn Zackery, Obediah Zackery, and Betty Jean.

For the past 25 years, Robert shared a partnership with his significant other, Augustine Thomas, whose companionship and care were a special part of his life.

He leaves to cherish his memories: 6 children. Dexter Cook; Gwen Evans; Shirley Smith; Melisa Ellie; Antoinette Smith; Charles Smith; a beloved sister, Sister Alma Lucille Zackery; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
