Obituary
Robert Lee Snyder, 82, passed away peacefully at his home October 21, 2023, surrounded by his beloved wife and family. He was born in Akron to the late Willam and Mabel (Varner) Snyder and was a Suffield High School graduate.
Bob worked nearly 30 years for Teledyne Monarch Rubber Factory in Hartville and retired from Hayes Lemmerz. He also loved to golf; being outdoors (especially working in his yard); working on cars and going to classic car shows; he loved Lake Blue Streak football and worked the chains on the sidelines for 49 years. He was active in his church and served as a deacon, a trustee, and an usher; he even cooked many meals for Family Night.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Louise; brothers, Willard, Ed, Harold and Larry; and brothers-in-law, Paul and Don Ebie. He is survived by his wife of over 61 years, Rita; sons, Scott (Lori), John (Rebecca) and Todd (Michele); grandchildren, Megan, Brittany, Alyssa, Allison, Andrew, Ava, Loretta and John David; great-grandson, Bryce; sisters, Genevieve Jackson and Hazel Lemons; brother, Frank (Marilyn) Snyder; sister-in-law, Donna Ebie; special niece Darlene (Ebie) Snyder and many more loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great nephews and friends. He will be deeply missed.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at 11:00AM, at Springfield Church of the Brethren, 3500 Albrecht Ave., Akron, OH 44312 with Revs. Andrew Wenger and Kris Hawk officiating. Calling hours will be at the church for 2 hours prior to the service, from 9:00am – 11:00am.
Bob loved classic cars and car shows; if you own a classic car and would like to drive it to the funeral, we will line the lane beside the church with classic cars. After the service, a walking procession will be made to the cemetery, across the street from the church. The procession will go past all the classic cars and will be Bob's last car show. Those that can't walk to the cemetery will be able to drive over from the church.
Burial will be at Maple Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Springfield Church of the Brethren. Any deliveries must be made to the church on Friday from 10:00am – 2:00pm.
Please share your thoughts and condolences with the family by visiting his Tribute Wall above.

Bob was never one to not come up with a quick remark to make everyone laugh. Him and Rita were in our league at Sable Creek for almost 20 years and it was never a dull moment with Bob around. He will be greatly missed. We love you Bob!!!! Jerry and Lorri Kline
