Krotz Springs- A Memorial Service will be held for Robert James Soileau, known to many as “Bobby” on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Krotz Springs with Rev. Henry Wallace officiating. There will be a Memorial gathering of family and friends celebrating Bobby’s legacy from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 4, 2024, in the First Baptist Church.
Bobby was born in Opelousas and was a previous resident of Krotz Springs. He was a resident of Port Barre and passed away on April 7, 2024, at 11:30 p.m. at Louisiana Extended Care Hospital in Lafayette, Louisiana, at the age of 60. Bobby worked for Midwest Cooling Towers for 21 years. He was a skilled craftsman who did ironwork and constructed metal buildings for many years. He enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid sportsman who loved to deer hunt and deep-sea fishing. He enjoyed watching Nascar racing and the Kansas City Chiefs football team on the television. He had a talent as an artist doing various projects with drawings, woodworking, and glasswork. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Bobby is survived by his wife of 41 years, Julie Mouton Soileau of Krotz Springs; son, Cody Soileau and wife, Claire of Port Barre; daughter, Jessica Soileau of Port Barre; grandchildren: Seth Williamson, Braxton Soileau, Clayton Soileau, Triston Hayes, William Nelson and Libby Nelson; mother, Shiela Perry Soileau of Krotz Springs; brother, Ray Howard Soileau of Krotz Springs; sisters, Sondra Manuel and husband, Donald of Krotz Springs; and Sonja Whittington and husband, Eric of Port Barre; brother-in-law, Rory Mouton and wife, Julie of Turkey Creek; sisters-in-law, Samantha Bourque and husband, Timmy of Livonia; Tessie Mouton and companion, Terry Johnson of Krotz Springs; and Martha Messer of Livonia; and a host of other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his son, Brandon “Shug” James Soileau; his father, Robert James Soileau, Sr.; paternal grandfather, Howard Joseph Soileau and stepmother, Betty Soileau; paternal grandmother, Ruth Marie Lemoine Soileau McCullen; maternal grandparents, Ray Wilson Perry and Marion Frances Baker Perry; father-in-law, Joseph Ivy Mouton; mother-in-law, Belva Lee Lejeune Mouton; son-in-law, Mack Kemp; sisters-in-law, Vickie Lebeau, Janice Chenevert, and Sandra Deshotel; and brother-in-law, Odel Messer.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Brittney and Devitt Prudhomme for the help with funeral expenses.
