Graveside services with military honors will be Tuesday, April 7, 2026 at 2:00 P.M. at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville. Weiker Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Born March 31, 1942 in Sedalia, he was the son of the late Richard L. and Rachel Plumb Southard.
He is survived by two children; two brothers; and four sisters. Local relatives include two brothers, Dennis Southard of Nelson, and John Southard of rural Slater. He was preceded in death by a daughter; four sisters; and three brothers.
Mr. Southard was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam Era. He had worked as a railroad laborer, electrician and plumber before his retirement. He had lived in Slater since 2003, moving from Marshall.
