Robert B. Stack

Robert B. Stack, age 94, passed away peacefully at home on August 16, 2023.
He was born on February 21, 1929, to the late Edna Mae and William B. Stack in Cambridge, MD. Robert attended Brown Vocational School in Wilmington, DE and worked for Electric Hose & Rubber Co. in Wilmington, DE for 33 years. He proudly served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1956. In his younger years Robert attended tryouts for the New York Giants as a short stop. He was offered a position but kindly declined, during tryouts he played a part in the movie "The Big Leaguer".
Robert lived in Ocala, FL, owning his own business "Trident Supply". He worked there for 12 years and retired in 1993 and returned to Delaware.
He was a member of Masonic Lodge #35, New Castle, DE, American Legion Post #28, Millsboro, DE, Olde Tymers Softball League (OTS) in Millsboro, DE for 17 years. His teammates gave him the nickname "Bubba", and in 2019 he was inducted in the Olde Tymers Softball League Hall of Fame. Robert enjoyed the beach, sailing, clamming, crabbing, fishing, baseball, and softball.
Robert is survived by his wife of 70 years, Mildred, his children, Jeffrey R. Stack (Barbara), and Karen K. Nardo (William, III), 5 grandchildren and 11 great- grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at 11:30 AM at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown, DE 19709. The viewing will be from 10:30 – 11:30AM. Burial with military honors will follow at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear, DE.
