Robert F. Stackhouse, Jr., 56, of Mehoopany passed away Sunday, April 7, 2024 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center from complications of severe pneumonia. He is survived by his wife of 25 years (together 34 years), Elizabeth (Adams) Stackhouse.
Born on July 13, 1967 in Heidelberg, Germany, he is the son of Robert and Nancy Stackhouse, Sr.
He graduated from Tunkhannock High School in 1985. Additionally, he furthered his skills by attending Johnson College.
Bob was a dedicated automotive technician for over 30 years. Throughout his career, he worked at various establishments including Mile Hill Collision in Tunkhannock, Kost Tire and Auto for 20 years, and most recently as the head mechanic at Mavis Discount Tire (formerly Jack Williams Tire and Auto).
He enjoyed visiting the casino and cheering on his favorite sports teams, the New York Giants and the New York Yankees. However, it was NASCAR that held a special place in his heart as his biggest sports love.
He dedicated his time to coaching basketball for the Tunkhannock Youth Basketball Association. Additionally, he was an active member of the Tunkhannock Moose Lodge and St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Kyle Stackhouse (U.S. Navy based in Guam) and Brian Stackhouse (Dunmore); grandchildren, Aubrey, Paisley, Blake Stackhouse; father-in-law, Eugene Adams, Sr.; sisters-in-law, Christine (Bill) Swilley, Gretchen (Brad) Morse; brothers-in-law, Gene (Heather) Adams, Gary Browning.
He is preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Ann and Mick Stackhouse; maternal grandparents, Mary Ellen and John Greene; mother-in-law, Phyllis Adams; sister, Jennifer Browning; brothers, Michael and Brian Stackhouse.
Family and friends are invited to attend Bob’s celebration of life service which will be held on Saturday, Aug. 24, 2024 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Tunkhannock Moose Lodge, 813 Hunter Highway, Tunkhannock, PA 18657.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Bob's name to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 5672 SR 6, Tunkhannock, PA 18657 or Blue Star Mothers of NEPA, PO Box 354, Tunkhannock, PA 18657.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the excellent ICU staff at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center for their care of Bob.
