Robert E. Staples

Robert E. Staples, 80, of East Stroudsburg, died Tuesday afternoon, March 5, 2024, at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Muhlenberg in Bethlehem. He was the husband of Arlene (Raymond) Staples with whom he shared 57 years of marriage.
Born on April 13, 1943 in Jersey City, NJ, he was a son of the late Edward and Phyllis (Heller) Staples. He grew up on Long Island, NY and has lived in Monroe County for most of his adult life.
Robert served in the United States Air Force from 1965 to 1968 and worked as a dispatcher for Consolidated Freightways until retiring.
He was a long-time member of the East Stroudsburg United Methodist Church.
In addition to his wife, surviving are two children, Jeffrey Staples and wife Janet of Clayton, NY and Jill Iaconetti of East Stroudsburg; five grandchildren, Eliot Staples of Ottowa, Canada, Brian Iaconetti of Myrtle Beach, SC, Angelo Iaconetti V of Philadelphia, Marcus Iaconetti of East Stroudsburg and Sophia Iaconetti of East Stroudsburg; a great-grandson, August Sol Iaconetti; a sister, Donna Thompson of Vermont; a brother, William Staples and wife Brenda of Mt. Pocono; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Friday, March 15th, at the East Stroudsburg United Methodist Church, 83 South Courtland Street, East Stroudsburg with visitation beginning at 12:30PM followed by the funeral service at 1:30PM with Rev. Samuel "Kofi" Ashley officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Prospect Cemetery. Friends and family are invited back to the church following the burial for a time of food and fellowship.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial remembrances be made to a charity of one's choice.
