Robert William Stelter, age 96, of Mankato died, Friday, July 4, 2025.

Funeral Service 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 11, 2025 at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, Mankato. Visitation will be one hour before service on Friday. Interment will be in Lake Belt Cemetery, Ceylon, MN. Northview – North Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Robert was born July 22, 1928, in Rutland Township, Granada, MN to William and Martha (Haack) Stelter. He graduated from Ceylon High School in 1947.

Robert was married to Dorothy Taylor from 1959 to 1973.

He worked various jobs in the Ceylon and Fairmont area, also in the Sauk Rapids and St. Cloud area such as yard maintenance, construction, interior decorator, bar tender and other assignments.

Robert was a career serviceman with the Army National Guard and the United States Air Force from 1952 until his honorable discharge in 1972. He had various stateside assignments and overseas tours such as Pleiku RVN Tet Offensive 1967-68, Cam Ranh Bay RVN 1969-70, Thule Greenland, Okinawa, Korea, Philippines, Japan, and Guam. He was a member of Post #1222 Fairmont, American Legion Post #11 Mankato, DAV #10 Mankato.

Robert enjoyed animals, traveling, and his time during the service with his friends.

Robert is survived by his brother, Wallace Stelter of Mankato; sister-in-law, Marilyn Stelter of Welcome; many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Edla (Roland) Johnson; brother, Donald Stelter; two sisters-in-law, Doris Stelter and Dolores Dorland.
