Robert L. "Bob" Stephens Sr., 87, of Sioux City, IA passed away on Friday, March 1, 2024.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 7, 2024, at Redeemer Lutheran Church (3204 S Lakeport St.) in Sioux City with burial following at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will start at 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel (6200 Morningside Ave.) in Sioux City. The family will be present to greet friends at 5 p.m. and there will be a prayer service at 6:30 p.m.
Robert Sr. was born April 2, 1936, in Sioux City, the son of Gaius and Ethel (Whitlock) Stephens.  He graduated from Central High School. On May 30, 1959, he married Rosie “Mae” Ashcraft in Sioux City, Iowa.  They had three sons. He was employed at the Iowa Department of Transportation and retired after 43 years as a surveyor coordinator.
Robert loved his family and enjoyed attending his children's and grandchildren's activities and sporting events. He enjoyed playing cards and games with family and friends, and he loved to fish, bowl, and hunt.  He loved to watch the Hawkeyes, Yankees, Redskins, and Bullets.  Robert was an excellent carpenter and was often found helping friends and family with their projects.   Every Sunday, he cooked a big meal for his family, and the grandkids would swim in their backyard pool.   He took pride in his flowers and gardening.  Robert was a longtime member of St. Mark Lutheran Church. He resided at Bickford the last few years where he was also blessed to be ministered to and visited by Redeemer Lutheran pastors.
Survivors include two sons, Robert Stephens Jr. and his wife, Ann, and Ross Stephens and his wife, Jenny, all of Sioux City; nine grandchildren, Brooke, Bryan, Brittany, Brady, Becca, Gage, Cooper, Jacob and Joshua "JJ"; great-grandchildren, Kennedie, Quinn, Ollie, Maci, Peyton, and Norah; one brother and his wife, Bill and Sherol Stephens of Sioux City; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife Mae Stephens; a son, Thad Stephens; his parents; four grandchildren, Brieanna, Brayden, Bridget and Kaylee; and two sisters, LeAnn Stephens and Lila Solomon.  
Pallbearers will be Jacob Stephens, Joshua Stephens, Bryan Stephens, Greg Solomon, Blake Lane, Kai Lane
Honorary pallbearers will be Brady Stephens and Gage Stephens 
The family would like to give a special thank you to Rhonda’s Senior Support Services, Bickford Senior Living Memory Care, and Hospice of the Midwest for their excellent care.
