Obituary
Robert E. "Bobby" Stevens, 81, a resident of the Rock Hill Community, passed away on Mon. April 10, 2023 at Cooperwood Senior Living in Flowood, MS. Visitation will be held on Wed. April 12, 2023 from 12pm-2pm at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. Funeral Services are 2pm on Wed. April 12, 2023 at the Ott & Lee Funeral Home Chapel in Brandon, MS with burial to follow in the Ross Cemetery in Cato, MS. Rev. Ricky Gray and Rev. Mark Dearman will officiate the services. Pallbearers are Andy Stevens, Chuck Stevens, Greg Stevens, Brian Stevens, Damon Stevens, Doug Carter, Don Carter, Chris Carter, R.P. Vanderford and Billy Stevens.
Mr. Bobby was born on the sandy banks of Dabbs Creek in Rankin County, MS on Sept. 7, 1941 to the late Gaston Stevens and Leonteen Hayes Stevens. He was a member and a deacon at Rock Hill Baptist Church in Brandon, MS and he retired from the Mississippi Forestry Commission. Mr. Bobby enjoyed Mississippi State Sports, New York Yankees Baseball, hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed watching all of his family play sports. Mr. Bobby loved to play jokes and loved to laugh. He was the happiest when he was helping people and loved cutting the grass at his church.
Mr. Bobby is survived by his wife of 57 years, Shirley Stevens; children, Cindy Anderson (Brad), Stacy Stevens (Sallie) and Lynn Jackson (Brian); grandchildren, Lauren Starnes (Samuel), Allie Christman (Robbie), Sam Stevens, Holly Jackson and Hannah Jackson; great grandchildren, Ethan Starnes, Nathan Starnes and two twin great-granddaughters on the way; brother, Lennis Stevens (Vivian); sisters in law, Judy Stevens, Melba Stevens and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Mr. Bobby is also preceded in death by his brothers, Thomas Stevens and Jimmy Stevens.
