Robert William Stover, Sr. (Smokey), 94, of Falls, passed away peacefully Sunday surrounded by his loving family. He will remembered as "O.G. POP". A grandfather of 8: J.R. Daubenhauser (Ashley) Dunmore, Genie Remetta, Lake Winola, Jenny Scimia (Frantony), New York, Paula Remetta, Florida, Ninarose Daubenhauser, Dunmore, Annaliesa Daubenhauser, Dunmore, Norahbelle Jung (Alexander), Dunmore, Robert W. Stover III, Nanticoke and a great-grandfather of 6: Joshua, Lillyona, Blake, Evan, Phoebe, and Sullivan. He was preceded in death by his ex-wife, Beryle Stover in 2022. He was also preceded in death by 2 of their children; Son, Robert Jr., (Bobby) in 2013 and daughter, Terri Stover-Remetta in 2020.

Born in Kingston to the late Alexander and Ethel Zurick Stover. He was a graduate of Tunkhannock High School, after which he enlisted in the Navy. He was a Senior Chief Petty Officer aboard the USS battleship Iowa. After his years of service, he returned home to Falls. He then began welding school under the apprenticeship of Local Union 524 in Scranton. He worked for Kramer Corporation, Philadelphia as a G6 pipe welder until he was 72 years old. Bob was a strong, robust man who took care of his homestead which included chopping wood and shoveling coal until his death.

Bob was a member of the former Dymond Hollow United Methodist Church. He currently belonged to the Church of God. He was a man of great faith, who read his Bible daily.

Left to cherish his memory is his beloved daughter, The Reverend Ginger Daubenhauser (Jack), Dunmore. His daughter-in-law, Amy Kane, Tunkhannock. He is also survived by Brother; Donald Stover, Rochester, NY. His sisters; Rose Marie Gregor, West Wyoming, Pa and Ruth Naomi Stover-Canale, California, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 13 siblings.

Dad had many friends at the Wyoming VFW Post 396. They were more like family. We are so grateful for the kindness and love they showed to Dad throughout the years.

Friends and family may call at The First Congregational United Church of Christ, 132 Union Street, Taylor on Friday, March 13, 2026 from 12 Noon to 1:00 p.m.

A celebration of Life service to honor Smokey will take place at 1:00 p.m. and will be officiated by The Reverend Doug Koeffner.

Full Military honors to follow.

Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
