Irene "Queenie" Ciprich, age 103, of Meshoppen, PA, concluded her earthly journey on February 27, 2026, at her beloved home. She lived a remarkable life, filled with love, devotion, and selflessness.

Born in Reading, PA on June 10, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Dorothy Posivak Mahoney.

Irene's educational journey began at Tunkhannock High School, where she excelled, graduating with honors before attaining an associate degree from the School of Cosmetology in Newark, New Jersey. Irene dedicated 44 years of her professional life to Endicott Johnson, where her work ethic and commitment were admired by all who knew her. Throughout her life, she carried with her a passion for lifelong learning and growth, nurturing the many talents that defined her.

A devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, Irene cherished her family above all else. She was a selfless individual, always ready to lend a helping hand to family members, church friends, or even strangers in need. Her laughter was infectious, and her spirit radiated warmth to all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Queenie found great joy in her various hobbies. An accomplished dancer, she especially loved polka and had a deep appreciation for music from her time as a member of her high school orchestra, where she played violin. She also received honors for her high school chorus group and traveled to different places to perform. Her love for cooking and baking was evident in the delicious meals she prepared and shared with family and friends. She had a green thumb and tended to vibrant flower gardens, often sharing plants and bulbs with loved ones. Irene delighted in hosting gatherings, creating cherished memories during picnics, Boy Scout activities, reunions, and winter sledding adventures.

Alongside her personal endeavors, she was deeply committed to her community and dedicated over 14 years as a volunteer at Wilkes-Barre Hospital. She was a member of the St. Joachim’s Roman Catholic Church. Additionally, she served as President of the Dennis Strong American Legion Post #457 Auxiliary for more than 40 years and was actively involved with the South Auburn Grange #1188 for over 70 years, where she helped sew quilts for the homeless. A member of the Red Hatters, Irene enjoyed the camaraderie and connection fostered through these bonds.

Travel was a big part of Irene's life with her husband, Mike. They enjoyed many cruises together and flew to many different countries around the world.

Queenie is survived by her grandsons, Ricky Kalinowski II (Stephanie) of Kinsley, PA and Ryan Kalinowski of Montrose, PA; granddaughter, Tanessa Lee (Yanni) of Brooklyn, NY; step-daughter, Michelle Harden of Quartzite, AZ; as well as her great-grandchildren, Caleigh, Mykaela, Bryanna, Neveah, Trinity, and Tierani; her 12 great-great-grandchildren; and special nieces, Carol and Laurie.

Along with her parents, Irene rejoins her beloved husband, Michael Ciprich (d. May 8, 2006); her son, Richard Kalinowski (d. Oct. 4, 2025); son-in-law, Larry Harden (d. January 21, 2022); and her siblings, Mildred Margites, Elsie Ofsheski, Helen Ehrgott, Joseph Mahoney, Jr., Paul Mahoney, and Raymond Mahoney, in eternal rest.
