Robert Hart "Bob" Sullivan

Robert "Bob" Hart Sullivan, 85, of Lakeland was born into eternal life on October 26, 2023.
He was born June 14, 1938, in Nashville, TN but relocated to Florida in pursuit of his passions, eventually settling in Lakeland in 1967. Bob worked in the citrus industry for many years, delighting his family with crates of Florida's finest at every opportunity. His background in agriculture came second to his storied career as a coach. Bob was the first collegiate baseball coach at Saint Leo University, "the man who started it all," an achievement he was most proud of. He was inducted into the school's Hall of Fame in 2017.
Bob had an uncanny ability to make everyone feel welcome. The ever-present smile on his face spoke to a kind heart dedicated to the service of his community. He was a parishioner at Resurrection Catholic Church where he volunteered his time and talents. Bob was passionate about social justice and equity, particularly concerned with feeding the hungry. He made an indelible impact on Lakeland while championing these causes.
He was preceded in death by his parents Hart and Ada, siblings Stella, Bill and Jerry, as well as his son Patrick. Bob is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marlyn, daughter Shannon (Gary), sons Keith (Mary Helen) and Larry, as well as siblings Nell, Linda, Mimi, and Patrick.
He was doting and beloved "Boboo" to his adoring grandchildren Brittany, Drew, Annie, Kaley, Hunter, Hart, Hayden, and Samantha, and his great-grandchildren Mary Grace, Ainslee, Taliyah, Jackson, Charlie, Bobby, Teddy, and Andie Jean.
Bob lived his life by one simple principle, "Be kind." He will be remembered for his legendary hugs, love of sweet treats, commitment to his Catholic faith, and as a lifelong mentor and educator.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, November 6, 2023, at 11 am at Resurrection Catholic Church, 333 Terrace Way, Lakeland, FL. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests donations to the Robert Sullivan Memorial Scholarship Fund at Santa Fe Catholic High School or One More Child, P.O. Box 8190, Lakeland, FL 33802.
