Robert J. Sutherland age 72 of Coleridge, Nebraska died on Sunday, August 06, 2023 at Faith Regional Hospital in Norfolk, Nebraska.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington, Nebraska with Pastor Dr. Brian High of First Baptist church. Burial will be at the Coleridge City Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday morning one hour prior to services. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington.
Pallbearers are Johnathan Brandow, David Brandow, Anthony Brandow, Jasón Swanson, Justin Swanson, and Jacob Swanson.
Robert was born November 5, 1950 in Laurel, NE to James Walker and Doris Marie (Simpson) Sutherland. He lived on his family farm outside Laurel until the property was sold in 1987, then moved to Laurel with his mother Doris Sutherland (née Simpson). After his mother passed away in 2000, he moved to Norfolk. He worked at Menard’s in Norfolk for many years and was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Norfolk.
Wherever Robert lived, he always made friends quickly because of his friendly disposition and sardonic sense of humor. In his youth, he enjoyed square dancing. He enjoyed socializing and playing cards, especially “Kings on the corner.”
Robert is survived by his niece Annashay (Sutherland) Salas of Denver, Colorado.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Sutherland on June 19, 1986 at the age of 80 years and Doris (Simpson) Sutherland on January 14, 2000 at the age of 78 years; and his sister Mariah Sutherland.
