Robert “Bob” Thiebeau, 78, of Morehead City, North Carolina, passed away at his home on Friday, April 11, 2025.
A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 3rd at First Presbyterian Church in Morehead City, officiated by Rev. Jake Young.
Born on January 9, 1947, in Riverdale, Maryland, Bob was the son of the late Robert and Ruth Thiebeau. With a long and dedicated career, Bob retired from the DC Metropolitan Police Department where he served as a detective for 20 years. Over his lifetime, Bob’s keen attention to detail and acute insight was invaluable to his community and those he served.
A man of integrity, Bob touched countless lives through his acts of kindness, always stepping in to help others in their time of need. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Morehead City, where he was grateful for the bonds he formed with his church family.
Bob enjoyed fishing, always ready to cast his line in search of the next big catch. He liked to keep busy chopping wood, and he loved the thrill of an intense card game. He was a devoted sports fan who loved to watch the Washington Redskins and was a proud supporter of the NC State Wolfpack teams. Travelling was another highlight, with Charleston, West Virginia being one of his favorite destinations. Bob also enjoyed taking cruises along with all the fun entertainment and beautiful sites along the way.
Bob was blessed to have his sweetheart, Bobbie, by his side for 42 years. Their journey began with 12 years of dating before they wed, and they went on to have 30 wonderful years together. Bob was a devoted family man, taking great pride in his role as a grandfather and cherishing all the fun memories with his grandchildren.
Those remaining include his loving wife, Barbara “Bobbie” Thiebeau; daughter, Leslie Serio and husband Brian of Palm Coast, FL; sons, Mark Melvin of Roxboro, NC and Robert “Rob” Thiebeau of Alexandria, VA; sister, Lorraine Folkman of Waldorf, MD; and grandchildren, Carol Thiebeau, Taylor Thiebeau, Max Serio, Anna Melvin, and Alexis Serio.
