Robert Thistle Obituary
Robert H. Thistle, 86, of Cumberland, passed away on Saturday, February 7th at home surrounded by family. He was the beloved husband of Ada D. (Kuszai) Thistle, with whom he shared 45 wonderful years of marriage.
Born in Newton, MA, he was the son of the late Harold and Roberta (Goodreau) Thistle. He had made his home in Greenville and Cumberland for the past five years, previously residing in [Johnston].
Mr. Thistle was a veteran who proudly served the United States Air Force. A true entrepreneur at heart, Mr. Thistle built a diverse career spanning multiple industries including television production, general contracting, training dogs and breeding Golden Retrievers, international consulting, and the creation of B-Fresh, his invention for healthy chewing gum.
Bob found joy in cooking, fishing, gardening, and playing cribbage-but above all, he treasured time spent with his family and friends. He will be remembered for his many talents, his sense of humor, kind heart, quick wit, and always doing whatever he wanted, however he wanted.
He is survived by his wife, Ada; his children, Robert Edmondson and his wife Linda of Virginia, Lisa Thistle of Connecticut, Heather Herring and her husband Gregory of Cumberland, and Daniel Thistle of Glocester; his sister, Jeanne Sawyer and her husband Paul of South Windsor, CT; his grandchildren Shante Mack, Jenna Mack, Ella Herring, Tommy Herring, and Willow Thistle; several great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, and his best friend Steve Waxman, whose weekly visits to play cribbage brought him joy even in his most difficult times.
He was predeceased by his siblings, Edward Thistle and Linda Slater.
Per his request, his funeral services will be private.
