Robert Thomas Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Carmon Windsor Funeral Home on Mar. 18, 2026.
Robert Edgar Thomas, 61, of Bloomfield, passed away on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at Providence Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo, CA. Born in Hartford on November 22, 1964, son of the late Edgar and Gladys (Parks) Thomas, he was raised in Hartford and was a graduate of A.I. Prince Technical School, Class of 1983.

After graduation, Robert enlisted in the US Army and served for many years as a reservist. After returning to Hartford, Robert trained as chef and worked for many years at local restaurants. He later took a position with the maintenance staff with the Bloomfield Board of Education where he worked for over 20 years until his retirement in 2023. During his career with the Bloomfield Board of Education, Robert worked at several schools in Bloomfield and was well-known for his meticulous attention to detail and his kind disposition. Never one to sit still, Robert took a part-time job immediately after retiring as a security guard at Job Corps in Hartford.

In his spare time, Robert enjoyed fishing and spent many years taking fishing charters off the coast of Massachusetts. During his vacations, he looked forward to visiting Virginia and Florida where he also went deep sea fishing with his family and friends. A trained chef, Robert always loved cooking for his family and friends. Robert especially loved cooking for holiday meals and family get togethers including Thanksgivings where he would deep fry a turkey and make a large feast with all the fixings. A festive person, he even made "Green Wings" for St. Patrick's Day every year and shared them with his family and friends.

Most of all, Robert will be remembered for his great sense of humor, his laid-back personality, and for his dedication to his family. As a child, his parents would take him and his siblings to Virginia Beach in the summer months, a tradition that he continued with his children, and they now have adopted with their own families.

He leaves his wife, Crystal Lynn Johnson of Bloomfield; two children, Ronya Tamika Lollar and her husband Vashon Montague of Bristol, and Robert Lollar of Bristol; four grandchildren, Caiden Montague and Aiden Montague both of Bristol, and Milan Lollar and London Lollar both of Manchester; two brothers, Gary Thomas and his wife Brenda of Windsor, and Keith Thomas of New Britain; four sisters, Rachel Mayo of Maryland, Natalie Sullivan of Hartford, Portia Andrews of Springfield, MA, and Lynn Lewis and her husband Tim of Windsor; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters, Deborah Thomas and Gladiola Stringer.

His family will receive friends on Thursday, March 19, 6-8 p.m., at the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor. His family will also receive friends on Friday, March 20, 10-11 a.m., followed by a Homegoing Service at 11 a.m., at The Lodge Community Chapel, 130 Deerfield Rd., Windsor. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford.
