Robert W. Thorley, age 74 of S. Weymouth passed away on Monday, March 24, 2025. Bob was raised and educated in Dorchester, graduating Boston English in 1968. He was hired by New England Mutual Life Insurance Company, now MetLife, immediately out of high school and remained with them for 37 years.
Although insurance was Bob's career, he was always very creative and detail-oriented. He utilized these skills and passionately established his own videography business which was his true calling. The opportunity to film videos alongside his children proved to be extra rewarding. He also was very talented at candlepin bowling, and made it to a televised competition filmed in Woburn. Bob also could be seen walking his dog Bailey in his neighborhood and along the reservoir daily. He especially enjoyed many peaceful rides in his convertible mustang. Of course, Bob was a huge Boston sports fan, and especially loved watching the Bruins and cheering on our hometown hero.
Bob is survived by his wife Susan M. Thorley (Rizzo) of Weymouth, his children Lauren Lekkas and her husband Arthur of Florida, Brian Thorley and his wife Jessica of Plymouth, and Allyson Thorley of Rockland, his grandchildren Brooke, Andrew, William, Niko, and Theia, and his sister Joan Kelly.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to the visitation for Bob on Thursday, April 3, 2025 from 5-7pm in the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home located at 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) Weymouth, MA. A funeral service will take place in the funeral home immediately following the visitation at 7pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society at www.Cancer.org.
