Robert Throm

WALKERTON – Robert C. "Bob" Throm passed away on Thursday, December 19, 2024 at Lutheran Hospital, Ft. Wayne. He was born on May 31, 1942 in Chicago to the late Robert E. and Ethel (Provost) Throm and was 82 years-old at the time of his death.
He was a retired business owner in the Walkerton area, best known for his time owning and operating the Dairy Queen. Before that, he was part owner of the Powers-Throm Ford dealership. He was also a past member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. He loved American history, guns, cars, playing golf and watching Western movies and television shows.
Bob is survived by three children, Laura (Jim) Holloman of South Bend, Lisa (Randy) Renners of Mason, OH, and Dr. Robert E. (Stacy) Throm of Memphis, TN; thirteen grandchildren ( Jessica, Jordan, Heather, Tyler, Madison, Kyle, Morgan, Ryan, Allison, Alexis, Lauren, Grace, and Mary); five great-grandchildren (Kayden, Carlynd, Hadley, Abigail, and Landon); and two brothers, James (Pamela) Throm of Darien, IL and Donald Throm of Garfield, AR. He is preceded in death by his long-time significant other, Carol Wiwi; his parents; one daughter, LeDonna Novak; and one sister, Sharon.
There will be a Celebration of Life Gathering held on Saturday, January 4, 2025 from 1:00 to 3:00 EST at the Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel. He will be buried with Carol at Woodlawn Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Bob's name.
