Beloved husband, father, stepfather, and grandfather;
Robert L. "Bob" Thyne, Sr, 78, of
Pelham, New Hampshire, passed away on Monday, August 4, 2025, at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center in Nashua.
He was the loving husband of Nancy G. (Titcomb) Thyne, who survives him.
Born in Lowell, MA, June 27, 1947, the son of the late Maurice L. "Tiny" and the late Gertrude (Whittemore) Thyne, he attended Pelham schools and Alvirne High School.
Bob had worked as a pressman for the Courier Citizen for over 30 years before joining Sullivan Brothers in their print department as a Pressman for several years until his retirement.
In his younger years, Bob was an amateur boxer in the Silver Mittens in Lowell and in Fall River, MA. Later, he was a longtime ticket holder for Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves and coached little league baseball at Callery Park. Bob loved to hang around with his older brother Jack and always told the story about how Jack saved him when he fell into the Canal in Lowell. Bob's father "Tiny" owned a bar in Lowell and would tell Bob to go down to the bar. Bob was too young to drive, so he would take the horse and tell the story about how people driving would beep and yell at him. Another time he took his youngest brother, Danny to an all night horror movie marathon and Danny wasn't the same for a while. He has many memories with his best friend, Ronnie Groulx, Sr. and enjoys telling the story about how they became friends. Ronnie and Bob were supposed to split a Hershey bar in half and Ronnie ran away with the whole candy bar. Bob chased him and because Ronnie ran faster, he didn't catch him and the candy bar was gone by the time Bob caught up. Bob made Ronnie make him a peanut butter sandwich and the rest is history. They rode motorcycles together and spent many weeks up at Motorcycle Weekend in Laconia, NH. Bob also went golfing for one day with his brothers Leo and Jack. He couldn't hit the ball and when his brother told him to clean up his divot, he picked up the ball and threw it and his golfing career began and ended that day. In his later life, he enjoyed sitting on the porch with his cousin Kevin bickering back and forth like a real-life 'Grumpier Old Men' movie. Bob enjoyed watching local Boston sports, especially the Patriots. He loved going to the beach, eating seafood, Elliot's Hot Dogs in Lowell and his greatest joy was spending time with his family and his two grand dogs, Dexter and Mia. Bob loved his Saturday mornings with his best friend and stepson-in-law, Bill. They would sit, drink coffee and enjoy each other's banter back and forth. Bill called Bob, 'Bobby Waffles' because of his love of waffles. Bob enjoyed spending time with his daughter, Cissy and always putting her to work if he could. They had the same sense of humor and so many sayings that she made him a t-shirt with all of their shared sayings. Bob was always there for whoever needed him; to move, to fix something, to bring you a coffee or a smile to your face. To know Bob was to love Bob. He had a wonderful sense of humor and so many one-liners that he used all the time. So, if you were around him long enough, you would never, "let your stupidity collaborate with your intellectual capacity". Can't wait to see ya.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his three children, Sherry Thyne of Tucson, AZ, Alicia Thyne of Derry, NH, and Robert L. "RJ" Thyne, Jr. of Cathedral City, CA; his two stepdaughters, Melissa G. Montgomery and her companion David Dailey of Hudson, NH, and Amy E. Donovan and her husband William A. "Bill" of
Pelham, NH; his four grandchildren, Diamond Lakey and her wife Carlie, Dillon Childers and his wife Brooke, Quinn Thyne, and stepgranddaughter Taylor Montgomery; four great grandchildren; three brothers, John J. "Jack" Thyne of Lowell, MA, M. Leo Thyne, Jr. and his wife Colleen of Longs, SC, and Daniel R. "Danny" Thyne and his wife Linda of Ossipee, NH; many cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was also the former husband of Kathleen Thyne and Annette Lemieux.
Bob was predeceased by his sister, Theresa (Thyne) Goodwin, his Stepmother, Mary (Jennings) Thyne, and was the father of the late Melissa L. Thyne.
