Robert J. Tichio, 95, of Manchester died peacefully Thursday June 30, 2022, at Ocean University Medical Center in Brick. Born and raised in Staten Island, NY, he resided in Hackensack (NJ), Buffalo (NY), Boston (MA), Holmdel (NJ), Hockessin (DE) and finally resting in Manchester (NJ) 35 years ago. Bob served in the Army as a Cryptographic Technician from 1944-1946. He was a graduate of the University of Missouri, where he earned a degree in Journalism and Fairleigh Dickinson for his M.B.A. Bob had a long career with Sperry and Hutchinson in NYC before moving on to other career opportunities. His most recent career was as a Public Relations Director for Getty Oil in Wilmington, DE before retiring in 1987. In his retirement, Bob enjoyed keeping abreast of current political affairs and financial matters. He loved his daily New York Times and John Grisham novels. In addition, Bob enjoyed hiking with friends and his morning walks well into his 90s.
He was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Florence, in 2017. Surviving are his daughters, Debra Labrecque & husband Theodore III (Manchester, NJ), Karen Williams & husband William (Clifton, VA), and 7 grandchildren, Gina, Theodore IV, Brandon, Victoria, Spencer, Maria & Hayden. Visitation is Tuesday, July 5, 2022, from 10 to 12 PM with a Noon service at Oliverie Funeral Home, 2925 Ridgeway Rd Manchester. Interment to follow at St. Mary of the Lake Cemetery, Lakewood. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Ocean University Medical Center Foundation, 425 Jack Martin Blvd, Brick, NJ 08724.
