Obituary published on Legacy.com by Tyler M. Woods Funeral Director from Aug. 11 to Aug. 12, 2025.
Vincent Michael LeMond, artist, architect, and devoted son of Martha LeMond of
Jefferson City, Missouri, and Don LeMond of Richmond, Virginia - died Sunday, August 3rd, 2025 at his home, after a brief illness. He was 59.
Born June 10th, 1966, Vince grew up in
Jefferson City, Missouri, where he participated in Boy Scouts and achieved Eagle Scout, marched with the Jefferson City High School Jay Band as a tuba player, and managed the boys' basketball team. After graduating from JCHS, he attended the University of Missouri-Columbia, where he was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity, and earned a BS in Human Environmental Sciences and Architectural Studies.
After graduating from Mizzou, Vince embarked on a career in construction project management that he found deeply satisfying. He supervised projects to build, renovate, and expand buildings all over the country, including in Virginia, Michigan, and Missouri. His work eventually led him to a job as a manager of special projects and alternative contracts at the University of Texas at Austin, where every year he oversaw about 125 capital improvement projects, and negotiated, supervised, and mediated up to 600 contracts.
Vince loved living in Texas, he took lessons in Texas Two-Step and Six-Step Country Dancing, bought a home in the Hill Country outside Austin, where he raised turkeys, chickens, and peacocks. And he was extremely proud to be part of the UT team, except when Mizzou's Tigers played the Longhorns in football. M-I-Z.
At Mizzou, Vince discovered and developed his talent as a visual artist. Over the years, he created work in oils, watercolor, and silk screen. More recently, he developed a love for embroidery. He created custom designs of wildlife and flora, and embroidered them on shirts, caps, and jackets, selling them at craft fairs throughout the Southwest. Initially, he participated in craft fairs because his artwork threatened to overtake his house, but he quickly fell in love with the camaraderie of fellow artists he connected with there. Eventually he partnered with wildlife artist Dallen Lambson to design and embroider fishing artwork on outdoor gear.
Standing at more than 6 feet, 3 inches tall, with the shoulders of a linebacker and a laugh that could register on the Richter scale, Vince commanded every art studio, construction site, and craft fair he entered. His college nickname is "Wince," because nothing was too corny, too weird, or too embarrassing that hewouldn't try, if he thought it would make someone laugh. His generous spirit matched his size, and he was always available to lend an ear, give a bear hug, or offer advice and/or comic relief.
He is survived by his parents; his uncle Greg Bolten of Jefferson City; his uncle Mark (Janet) Bolten of Dallas; his aunt Lois Pohl of Jefferson City; his close friend Sherry Cassilly of Edgewater, Maryland, and scores upon scores of friends and fellow artists around the country, sorely feeling the Vince-sized hole in their lives.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 12th, at St. Martin's Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Maj. Nicholas Reid presiding. Internment will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Vince's name to the Samaritan Center Interfaith Agency of
