Tucker Sr., Robert Edward, 80, passed away suddenly with family at his side on August 26, 2025. Bob was born March 27, 1945 in Philadelphia, PA and raised in West Philly. Bob served in the U.S. Army from September 17, 1965 to July 11, 1967 in the infantry as a scout dog trainer. During his service, he was wounded and sent to Hawaii for surgery and recovery. He was later awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. It was during his recovery he called, Joanne Kustra, to be his wife and they married ten days later in Hawaii. After his service discharge, our parents moved from Northeast Philly to Fairless Hills Bucks County, PA and then to Indian Mills, NJ where we resided for 18 years there. Then, after a short stay in Horsham, PA, moved to Bluffton, SC in 2001 and resided there since.

Bob devoted his time as a father and husband while working as a road construction estimator, achieving Chief Estimator among the Philadelphia heavy construction companies. He formed lifelong friendships in his career that followed when he moved to South Carolina and continued his work as a Chief Estimator until his retirement.

Everywhere we lived people recognized Bob as a caring, big hearted man, who always made people feel welcome, lending a helping hand, never consider anyone a stranger, loved children and had a jokester sense of humor. He especially loved his three grandchildren. He assisted his two grandsons with their Eagle Scout projects from start to completion and was proud to see them attain their Eagle Scout honors. Bob was known as a family man celebrating every birthday, holiday, and family gathering that created loving memories each time. He was known for his stories, Habitat for Humanity Finds, thrifting with his granddaughter, amazing house renovating projects and beautiful landscaping.

Robert is preceded by wife, Joanne M. Tucker, of 56 years of marriage, mother, Ruth C. Tucker, father, Charles I. Tucker, Sr., brother, Charles I. Tucker, Jr., sister, Virginia Nober and survived by son, Robert (Sherri) Tucker Jr., daughter Holly (Sean) A. Matteo, grandchildren Anthony M. Matteo, Nicholas S. Matteo, Annamarie J. Matteo, and nieces of his sister and brother.

Our most cherished memories with Dad are the weekend family drives, Sunday breakfast and dinner meals, watching Philadelphia Eagles games, Friday night pizza and game nights. Dad loved his Bishon Frise, Happy. We remember well and will miss his long talks and phone calls, his advice, unannounced stop overs, weekend get togethers, love of his friends and life and caring for people. He will continue to live in our hearts.

Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at Saint Andrew Catholic Chapel located at 220 Pinckney Colony Road, Okatie, SC 29909. A visitation an hour before the Mass will begin at 10:00 A.M. and the Mass will be at 11:00 A.M. A reception will follow afterwards at 60 Stratford Drive (Eagle’s Point) Bluffton, SC.
