Robert Walter Turkowski

Robert Walter Turkowski (75) passed away on May 1, 2024 in Charlotte, NC. Bob was born on December 13, 1948 in Waukegan, IL. He was a graduate of North Chicago Community High School and the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana where he earned both a Bachelor and Master's Degree in Physics. Upon completion of his degrees, Bob attended the U.S. Navy's Officer Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island and served on nuclear submarines. After discharge from the Navy Bob joined General Electric Company in San Jose, CA where he had a long and successful career working on nuclear power plants. Bob's work took him around the world, quite often to Asia.
Bob had several hobbies notably coin and stamp collecting. He collected both items for over fifty years and oversaw successful auctions of both collections. Bob was a golfer, hiker and naturalist. He enjoyed traveling to state and national parks especially throughout the western United States.
Bob was a son of the late Stanley Joseph Turkowski and the late Adeline Ursula Kocal Turkowski, and the brother of the late David Stanley Turkowski. He is survived by numerous cousins, colleagues and friends.
A Funeral Mass will take place on Thursday, June 6 th, 2024 at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Wadsworth, IL. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Church at 10:00 a.m. After Mass a luncheon will be held.
