Robert Lee Umberger

Tobaccoville – Robert Lee "Bob" Umberger, 74, passed away peacefully at his residence on Saturday, January 25, 2025, under the care of Trellis Supportive Care.
Robert was born on August 5, 1950, to the late Joe Miller Umberger and Vivian Lucille Cressell.
Born in Rural Retreat, VA, Bob loved the mountains, enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, and was always on the go. He worked in Infrastructure Construction as a heavy equipment operator, project manager, and supervisor for many companies for more than 50 years.
He loved his family and was always there to help if needed. You never knew what humorous or off-the-wall comments he would throw out to make you laugh or leave you utterly confused. He will be missed greatly by many!
Robert is survived by his wife, Sherry Whitley Umberger; son, Sean Umberger of Clemmons; daughters, Detrenia Umberger of Winston-Salem, Casey Schwartz (Stephen) of Clemmons; stepson, Bobby Whitley of Winston-Salem; stepdaughter, Christina Whitley of Winston-Salem; brothers, Johnny Umberger, Richard Umberger; sisters, Joann Boothe, Connie Henry (Randy); as well as twelve grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be scheduled at a later date.
