Robert Duane Upton

Robert "Bob" Duane Upton, 79, of Gulliver, MI passed away peacefully at home on December 26, 2023. Bob was born on February 8, 1944, to Lester and Mildred (Clickner) Upton. He attended Leslie High School in lower Michigan. On November 28, 1964, he married Diane (North) Upton in Leslie, MI celebrating 59 beautiful years of marriage. Together, they shared two children, Michael and Kristin.
Bob proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1962-1964. He worked in the woods and logging industry as a heavy equipment operator for many years. He was a simple man who loved the woods, hunting, fishing, and shooting his guns. He enjoyed farming, cows and loved his loyal blue heeler, Speck. In the evening, you could find him sitting in his chair by the woodstove, browsing the internet or looking up videos on YouTube. Whether it be tutorials or shows on cars, guns, hunting or even listening to country music, Bob could find it. He was a loving husband, father, grandpa, and friend. He will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Bob is survived by his wife Diane Upton; daughter Kristin Berendt of Gulliver, MI; son Michael (Erthel) Upton of Manistique, MI; grandchildren Kyle, Laura, and Cierra Upton and Nicholas Berendt in addition to three great-grandchildren with another on the way.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Mildred Upton, brother Ronald Upton, sister Shirley Sawyer, and son-in-law and friend, Danny Berendt.
At the request of the family, no services will be held.
Memorial donations in Bob's honor may be directed to the family for future designation.
