DUDLEY-Robert C. Vinton, 78, formerly of Worcester passed away at his home on Thursday, September 28, surrounded by his loving family.

He leaves his wife of 50 years, Susan M. (LaMonda) Vinton; three children, Sherrie Urena and her husband, Darrell Clark of Dudley, Lynn Vinton and her husband, Elijah Giles of Worcester and Christopher Vinton of Worcester; his six grandchildren, Raenelle Vinton, Christianna Vinton, Kobe Giles, Kayne Shavies, Zachari Giles and Nyla Clark; his great-grandson, and Raenelle’s child, Blu Seabrooks. 

He was born in Worcester, son of Earl Vinton and Mabel (Stockwell) Wyman. He is predeceased by two older brothers, Warren and Roger Vinton of Worcester. He is  survived by two other siblings, Carol Vinton and her husband, Ivan Burgos of Webster and Donald Vinton of Grafton, NH. He leaves many nieces and nephews and several adopted grandchildren.  He graduated from Commerce High School before enlisting and serving in the US Army.  He was discharged in 1984 with the rank of Staff Sergeant.

Bob was a toll collector for the Massachusetts Turnpike, for many years, before retiring. He was a Past Commander of the Main South American Legion Post #341 and served as their bartender and maintenance man. He adored his grandchildren and made sure to attend all of their events. He was affectionately called Pepe by friends and loved ones. He was an avid sports fan and devoted to his favorite team, the New England Patriots. He loved to help others and enjoyed being the family handyman whenever called upon.

Visiting Hours are Tuesday, October 3 from 4 to 7pm with a Prayer Service at 630pm at Callahan Fay Caswell Life Celebration Home, 61 Myrtle St., Worcester. The burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Veterans Inc. at www.veteransinc.org
