Robert Anthony Vuolo passed peacefully and gracefully away from this life on August 1, 2024 at the home he shared with his daughter in Penrose, CO. Robert was born August 11, 1936 in Brooklyn, NY and was the only child of Pasquale and Mary Vuolo.
Robert married Mary Ann Vuolo on October 16, 1965. They had an amazing 54-year marriage before her passing in 2019. Robert and Mary Ann traveled extensively before starting a family and lived in Brooklyn, NY until 1971 when Robert and Mary Ann moved to Lakewood, CO for Robert's career with the Manville Corporation as the Director of the Graphic Arts and Design Department. They lived in their home for 47 years.
Robert is survived by his children, Gregory Vuolo of Fairplay, CO, Kristine Vuolo of Penrose, CO, Lesley Vuolo Morales (Estaban) of Fairplay, CO and children of Robert's heart: Travis Smythe of Florence, CO and Lisa Buchanan of Penrose, CO; grandchildren, Peter Loyd-Vuolo of Englewood, CO, Halie Loyd-Vuolo of Penrose, CO, Grant Loyd-Vuolo (Riana) of Canon City, CO, Jakob Vuolo of Longmont, CO, Maddox Vuolo of Longmont, CO, Ariana Morales of Fairplay, CO; grandchildren of Robert's heart, Melissa Segura of Penrose, CO, Jamie Rauhut of Penrose, CO and Grandpapa to Miracle of Penrose, CO.
Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann and his parents, Pasquale and Mary (Stropoli) Vuolo.
Robert received his Bachelor at the Fine Arts University of Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY. He also served in the Army National Guard for 6 years as a Tanker with the rank of Sergeant. Robert's favorite things were his prized RV and boat which he took his family every summer to Lake McConahay, NE and Glendo, WY, and he enjoyed skiing in the mountains of Colorado during the weekends of the winter months. He loved dinners out, plays/musicals and rubbed shoulders with people from Hollywood to Grammy Award Singers in his career.
He is best remembered for his smoking pipes with cherry flavored tobacco in his younger years and his love for Frank Sinatra, Willie Nelson and Neil Diamond music. He was also a sharp dresser, always dawning his best when going out.
While we lost our most beloved dad, many have lost a friend and loved one in him. He has been a rock to many, a master at sarcastic humor and witty timing to others, and even a glorious pain in the neck, to what I'm sure is a small select few (because no matter what happened between you in your lives, once you were marked as important to him, he'd be by your side if you needed him). There was so much more to him than just dad: stand-in paternal figure to the fatherless, a handyman, artist, garden designer, the list goes on and on.
Robert moved to Penrose, CO, where his eldest daughter lived in June of 2016 after having emergency colon surgery because of cancer. His family was told they had maybe a week with him without chemotherapy or radiation and instead of goodbyes then, they were all blessed with 8 plus years of his humor, love and strength. Robert was full of strength and courage with the biggest heart which he passed down to his children and grandchildren His son Greg, will always be the Prince, his daughter Kristine, will always be the caretaker and his daughter, Lesley, his little meadow muffin will always and forever be his favorite
