Robert J. Wagner, 87, of Evansville, passed away Monday, December 15, 2025 at Linda E. White Hospice surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 2, 1938 in Evansville to the late Mary (Solomon) and Jacob Wagner.
Bob graduated from Mater Dei High School and worked at Tri-State Lighting for over 33 years. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and the Evansville Athletic Club.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Carol Ann (Jost) Wagner; sons, Timothy (Dixie) Wagner and Jeffery (Candie) Wagner; daughters, Cynthia (Mark) Zirkelbach and Tamara (Jeff) Bowen; stepdaughter, Kelli Robinson; stepsons, Kevin (Tasha) Koressel and Kerry (Kristi) Koressel; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; sister, Anne Drone; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Linda (Conaway) Wagner; brothers, Eugene Wagner, Marion Wagner and Jim Wagner; and sisters, Ethel Golden, Sylvia Winiger, Judy Reif, Viola Hobbs and Betty Dhom.
Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, December 18, 2025 at Ziemer Funeral Central Chapel, 626 First Ave., Evansville with a memorial service at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 19, 2025 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 704 N. First Ave., Evansville. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the church with Father Ted Tempel and Father Steve Lintzenich officiating.
Entombment will be at Locust Hill Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Anthony Catholic Church, 704 N. First Ave., Evansville, IN 47710.
The family encourages those attending the visitation on Thursday to wear St. Louis Cardinals or IU attire in memory of Bob.
